Michael McQuilkin’s Family Music Hour XX was the 10 Year Anniversary of the show that began in December of 2012. As always, the Family Music Hour features some of the Valley’s greatest musical talents. This performance, the Family Music Hour was thrilled to welcome legendary drummer Harold Jones who will be making his first appearance at the event as a guest drummer.
In a time that seems to be dominated by screens, the Family Music Hour shakes things up, getting people off of their couches and onto their feet!
The event started with a simple goal of centering music within the community as a point of connection. Founder and visionary Michael McQuilkin recalls, ”I grew up in a family where music was always happening. I played the piano, my father played violin, my brothers played trumpet and conga drums, and we’d have a concert every night.“ Michael has recreated this tradition of music-making which takes its cue from TV shows like The Lennon Sisters, The Smothers Brothers, and the radio show Prairie Home Companion. The motto “Music Brings Families Together” captures the spirit of the show which is now in its 10th year attracting sold-out audiences at every performance.
